Your air cooled Generac in MT should have its first service performed at 25 hours of run time (this includes adjusting the valves). Your Generac should then be serviced annually or every 200 hours, whichever comes first. Due to the high and low temps we experience in MT, annual services are recommended, as long as 200 hours of run time has not been exceeded.

We work on much more than generators. We have experience working on most powered equipment you’d have on your property. This includes items such as log splitters, tractors, skidsteers, lawnmowers, small engines and more.

NO, with a possible exception. If your equipment has a manufacturer warranty or manufacturer extended warranty, you are not required to have the dealer you purchased your unit from, service it. The possible exception may be this: if your dealer has their own warranty or extended warranty that is backed by them and not the manufacturer- they MAY be able to require you to use them as a service vendor. Read the fine print. While I don’t know what was said exactly between customers and a certain dealer in the area- several customers i’ve encountered have been left with the impression that their generator HAD to be serviced by the installation dealer in order for the factory warranty to be preserved. This is not true.

If you have the skills and comfort level, yes. Be sure to document the dates, and run hours on your unit when you service it. For the entire time the generator is in its warranty period- keep your service records and the receipts for the service materials. We suggest you always use the OEM supplies for your service materials. Taking care of equipment like a generator is not the place to save a few bucks on off brand oil and filters. Look up the service intervals and procedures for your unit. Different service periods will have different requirements for tasks performed. Of course you can always contact us for service or any questions you may have.
